Top Tips

These tips apply no matter which role you’re applying for!

  • Less is more. Keep your CV short and simple, there’s no need to make it colourful or designed. Your showreel should only be 30-60 seconds long.
  • Put your best foot forward. Make sure to put your best work at the beginning of your showreel/portfolio. If you’re not sure which bits of work are strongest, ask a peer or mentor.
  • Honesty is the best policy. If you have worked on a short film at university, please explain which parts you worked on and make it clear your film was a student film (lots of student films look very professional so it’s not necessarily clear just from looking!) For example, if you simply put ‘Short Film Director’ on your CV and do not state it was for a student film, you may be considered overqualified for the internship and you may not be successful as a result!
  • Have an eye for detail. Make sure your CV is up to date and your contact details are correct. If you’re submitting a link to your portfolio, please make sure the link works and if there’s a password please include it in your application.
