Why have we released a Kids Content for Good Manifesto?

What is “good” content? We asked ourselves this question and realised everyone had different ideas and we need to all be on the same page. Why? So that everyone who works with Blue Zoo, our internal staff and external clients, understands our goals and why we’re committed to them.

In an era where algorithms and profit margins often drive production, we want to champion content that has a joyful and positive influence on the viewer’s life, made with genuine care and without exploitation. Whether crafting educational programming or joyful stories, we believe audiences of all ages, children in particular, deserve thoughtful, non-manipulative media built on human imagination rather than just data.

By publishing this manifesto, we hope to demonstrate that a studio can be commercially viable while holding firm to creative integrity and social responsibility. Our commitments include rejecting dark patterns and exploitative monetisation and upholding absolute transparency in our craft and AI usage. In doing so, we are mapping out how Blue Zoo lives these principles daily. Crucially, we see our studio’s longevity as inseparable from the health of the broader creative ecosystem; that is why we dedicate company time to educational outreach, mentoring, and positive lobbying to help nurture a thriving talent pool across animation, VFX, and film.

We are sharing our Kids Content for Good Manifesto openly to create dialogue, raise the bar for audience protection, and encourage our industry colleagues to join us in prioritising creative practices that are a net positive for young audiences.

As a B Corp, we make money so we can make more good content, not the other way around.
