With the year almost out we are bowled over to see Blue Zoo projects nominated for no less than THREE Children’s BAFTAs. It’s especially wonderful to see our shows make up half the choices for Pre-School Animation! Since 2006, Blue Zoo has proudly received 17 BAFTA nominations in various categories. Being considered for this prestigious British award never gets less exciting and our teams are thrilled to see their hard work acknowledged! Here are our nominations in 2019:

BEST PRE-SCHOOL ANIMATION: NUMBERBLOCKS

Hot on the heels of the series 2 finale, our number-magical show has been capturing imaginations and teaching young kids maths since 2017! Considered twice for a BAFTA, Numberblocks is an undeniable fan favourite. This series has earned its place on the nominee list with ambitious musical numbers and hilarious parody specials.

“Couldn't be prouder of our ‘One! One amazing team!’ this morning for our BAFTA nomination! We're always hearing from fans about how Numberblocks is inspiring young children and this is amazing recognition for its combination of dedication to the maths and wonderful characters and stories.” - Simon Taylor, Series Director of Numberblocks

BEST PRE-SCHOOL ANIMATION: DIGBY DRAGON

A long-time studio favourite, our kind-hearted dragon friend has received a nomination for the new series! Digby and friends have captured the hearts of Nick Jr. viewers. Set in a beautiful forest backdrop populated by colourful characters, we are very proud of the quality of this show and thrilled Digby has been nominated again for a BAFTA.

“Fantastic news that our loveable hero Digby Dragon is a finalist for this year’s BAFTAs. Chris Drew and team created such wonderful original stories for the new series, that continues to be a children’s favourite.” - Adam Shaw, Co-Founder of Blue Zoo

BEST SHORT FORM: A WHALE’S TALE

We were delighted to see our touching short film, A Whale’s Tale, nominated for a Short Form BAFTA this year! Made in collaboration with Cartoon Network for the wonderful Hope Works campaign, this timely, environmentally-conscious film was screened at Glastonbury this summer. With glorious colours from the sea contrasted with the dull plastic, the design of this short truly makes it shine.

“What an honour to be nominated in the Best Short Form category at this year’s children’s BAFTAs for the wonderful short, A Whale's Tale, we crafted with Cartoon Network. Huge congratulations to everyone that worked so hard to produce this.” - Damian Hook, Director of Commercials
