It was the year 2000 in sunny Bournemouth on the South coast of the UK. As the celebrations of an exciting new millennium died down, three students named Adam Shaw, Oli Hyatt and Tom Box decided to go the entrepreneurial route and start their own studio. Over a pint of cheap student beer, they decided to name it Blue Zoo.
The problem? They had no idea how to run a studio, or had a single contact in the industry. But this wasn't a problem; it was an exciting challenge.
They experimented, persevered and unrelenting passionate ambition led this studio to become one of the UK's leading and most respected animation production companies.
24 years later, Adam, Oli and Tom still own and run the studio. They may have slightly less hair now, but their original creative drive remains stronger than ever.
Twenty four years ago, we won our first pitch - creating a series of animations for the BBC's new channel CBeebies.
The problem was, we didn't have a renderfarm, so we used our creativity to engineer a solution, where we speedily rendered all of the animations on the workstation's graphics cards, allowing us to deliver our first project on time, and on budget.
Since then, we have embraced and experimented with creative technology, becoming one of the first studio' in the world to utilise GPU rendering for an entire series.
It's now in our DNA to embrace creative technology and strive to never become technically complacent, ensuring every penny of budget is being used to create the highest quality visuals possible.
