 Today we're celebrating Adam (Co-founder/Director of Blue-Zoo) winning the coveted Electronic Arts British Academy Children’s award for Best Breakthrough Talent. The special award recognises and pays tribute to the talent of individuals working in children’s entertainment, producing the best children's productions of the year, in film, television, video games and online. 

 

Howard Litton (SVP, Managing Director, Nickelodeon UK) said “Adam and his company are fabulous because they represent everything positive about UK animation — talented, enthusiastic, passionate, cutting edge, with a total eye on quality. I’m sure Adam and Blue-Zoo are destined for great things.”
 

 


BAFTA Nominations

Blue-Zoo scores another BAFTA nomination this year with "My Favorite Bed Times Story" for the Short Form award, these beautiful live action/animated shorts were conceived by Claire Norowzian and Peter Drake for Nickelodeon, designed by Helen Arntsen at Blue-Zoo and animated by our in-house team. Blue-zoo have been involved in several of the other nominated shows including Bookaboo for the Pre-School Live Action award, where we designed and animated the titles and in show graphics for Happy films! We are already looking forwards to the big night!

 


Formula Fun

We have recently completed a project for the team at Formula Fun. Its an exciting trailer for a brand new kids series called Franco and Formula Fun. Animation Director Adam Shaw combined detailed matte paintings and new rendering techniques to bring this action packed trailer to life in a way that will take the pre-school animation world by storm. Animation in England

This month we've been drumming up support for the English animation industry, talking to the press, the producers, the broadcasters, MP's, and anyone else who will listen about the problems facing the industry and the possible solutions for it!

Oli's been pretty busy with it - he appeared on
BBC News, he talked at Showcomotion, presenting some of the startling statistics he's been researching, as well as talking to various magazines and newspapers such as The Times to raise awareness.

He's now working with various companies and professionals to find the best ways forward, watch this space!

"Lego Star Wars" Sponsorships

Turner Media Innovations commissioned us to  create 8 x 10sec spots, combining the heritage and the tongue in cheek humour of the Lego Star Wars brand to promote the launch of the new Star Wars: The Clone Wars series on Cartoon Network.

 


Kidscreen Summit 2009

Bookaboo

Happy Films asked us to create the 45 second opening and 60 second closing titles for CiTV's new show "Bookaboo". The puppet footage was shot on RED Cam at 4k, then we created all of the environments in CG and composited it all together in HD. TXs 2nd March.
 

 


Stitch-Up gets BAFTA nomination

Our new animated series "Stitch-up Showdown" has been shortlisted in the "Short Form" category for this year's Children's BAFTAs. The winners are announced at the awards on 30th November. Stitch-Up is currently airing on Nickelodeon UK.

Kerwhizz

We are currently in the middle of production on an innovative new show for Cbeebies - Kerwhizz! It's a dynamic pre-school series where CGI contestants compete in a quiz to win 'mods' for their racing pods which they then race around vibrant raceworlds which range from the historical to the astronomical! It's an in-house Cbeebies Production and we were brought on board to work on the production from storyboards through modelling, animation, lighting, render and compositing of all the CGI elements. It's a 26 x 22minute HD series due to launch the first week of November, so watch this space...
